The best AI doesn’t feel like AI — it’s invisible.
No change management necessary.

In mid-September, our team traveled to Boston for the GenAI in Insurance conference, where Agentech was honored to be a sponsor.

We were pleasantly surprised by how many insurance industry executives were eager to incorporate AI into their businesses, enhancing the efficiency and productivity of adjusters, underwriters, and customer success teams.

Another surprise? The sheer number of chatbot products being showcased at the conference.

This reflects what many people think of when they hear the term “AI” — chatbots, ChatGPT, and other AI interfaces that require the user to interact with them to derive value.

With tools like GPT, Claude, and others facilitating conversations, it’s easy to see why people often associate AI with chat-based interactions.

But AI is so much more than chatbots.

In fact, the best AI doesn’t have to feel like a conversation with a machine. The best AI is seamless, not visible to the user.

As Arun Shastri wrote in Forbes back in 2022,

“We must remember that well-designed AI runs quietly and effectively in the background. The complexity of the algorithms must only be known to the data scientists and machine learning engineers who work to design and deliver these complex systems. This is because the star of the show is not AI, but the gains it delivers in the ways we work and deliver impact.”

I love that last sentence especially. An AI product is only as good as the actual value it delivers in the form of productivity, efficiency, and impact.

What do we mean by ‘invisible AI?’

When you interact with a chatbot, you’re still doing much of the work. You tell the AI what you need, guide it through relevant options, and make decisions. Essentially, you’re instructing the tool on what to do.

But the best AI requires no work from the end user at all. It runs in the background, staying out of the user’s way, and simply delivers when it’s supposed to.

That’s exactly how we designed Agentech.

It doesn’t need a user interface. The user doesn’t need to log in, click, upload, or open anything—Agentech is constantly and quietly working alongside the adjudication team, providing valuable information at key decisioning points.

In pet insurance, for instance, Agentech’s AI agents continuously ingest data from veterinary records, including scanned documents, PDFs, handwritten notes from veterinarians, and images of medications. It makes thousands of micro-decisions that are imperceptible to the user, pulling out relevant information and creating a valuable claims profile.

Agentech discreetly eliminates the most mundane, time-consuming step in the claims process. Our supportive and seamless AI allows claim handlers to focus on more important tasks, such as making complex decisions that require their expertise and judgment.

“Invisible AI” is the hardest kind to create. It demands a deep understanding of the target user, the challenges they face, and the information they need, coupled with significant expertise in AI. Our team has spent extensive time developing interactions between AI agents so that end users don’t need to worry about learning how to craft precise instructions themselves.

This is why we spent hundreds of hours conducting ethnographic research with claims adjusters and other key players in the insurance claims process. We also have subject matter experts (SMEs) on our team guiding product development today.

Our goal was to ensure Agentech is positioned in the background, quietly integrating into their existing workflows while providing so much value that they couldn’t imagine working without it.

We’ve delivered on that promise with our invisible AI tool. Reach out to us if you'd like to see a demo.
